Established in 1983 and now 34 years later, The Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, Inc. (DFAW) has over 1,600 members on record over the years. We are a non-profit corporation operating under the laws of the State of Connecticut. Our nationwide society is entirely managed by volunteers.
The purpose of the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor is to record and preserve the history and genealogy of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, their families and their descendants.
Membership in DFAW is open to all sharing our Purpose. Junior and Life memberships are available. Members with a lineal descent from a Founder(s) are encouraged to submit that lineage to the genealogist for certification.
Our 12-page quarterly Newsletter includes articles on new genealogical findings, upcoming meetings, and other items of importance to Windsor Descendants.
As a genealogical society incorporated to do business in the state of Connecticut, our membership card allows access to vital record restricted under Connecticut Statute.
Cousin Exchange links those members wishing to be in touch with cousins researching a specific Founder's Line.
Our meetings feature a speaker, lunch and time to share with other Windsor descendants
Annual Meeting occurs on the Saturday closest to Windsor's birthday, September 26.
Spring Luncheon usually occurs on the last Saturday of March.
DFAW gathers and verifies as much genealogical data as possible. Since 1983, we have gathered primary and published material on the founding families of Windsor. Our information is available to other researchers in a searchable database housed at the Windsor Historical Society (www.windsorhistoricalsociety.org).
